The most important thing to understand when you are talking about homework is that you have to do it. Well you don't have to do it but you know that if you want to improve in your academic studies and if you want to get on the right side of your teachers or professors then homework simply has to be done.
Now of course you want to do the homework well and get it right but you need to remember that understanding is far more important than rote learning. I mean just getting the answers right is not good enough. You need to understand the process whereby the answers are discovered. Understanding is everything.
But having said all of that you now want to tackle your homework in a way that will save you time. You don't want to spend ages doing something which you could complete with understanding in a much shorter timeframe. To make that happen follow the following tips.
It's no good coming home to do your homework and simply taking out your books and dumping them on the table, taking the first book and then thinking about what you might have to do. You need to make a list of all the tasks you need to complete in the current homework activity session. Then you need to list these activities in order of priority. The most important homework assignment goes at the top of the list and so on.
The sooner you can develop doing homework as a habit the better. This means that you do it at the same time in the same place every time you tackle your homework. Establish a routine and make it habitual.
You're never going to complete your homework assignments in a short amount of time if you keep getting interrupted. All sorts of things can distract you. It could be the television or radio or your phone or family or friends. Lock yourself away in a situation where distractions are removed altogether or certainly to a large degree.
Then you need to make your environment as comfortable and conducive to finishing your homework as quickly as possible. Get the lighting right, get the desk and seat right, get the whole place in which you are studying set up so that you feel comfortable and can work quickly and well.
